The bike team is currently preparing for another training camp in sunny San Diego during winter break. The team will spend January 3rd thru the 10th riding the mountains with Lambda alum and professional cyclist Karl Bordine.

10th PLACE!!
In the 2003 Little 500, the bike team advanced from its 25th place starting position to finish 10th overall. The team finished on the lead lap, and was only 3 seconds behind the first place finisher, pretty good for a team of 3 rookies and a sophomore veteran. The team raced almost perfectly and was right in it to the end. It was a great day for the team and the whole chapter… the fans were going wild! For many brothers, it was the first time the race was worth watching and the team greatly appreciated the support. The team was led by Jeff Haller and Josh Beisel, who each completed over 70 laps. But, both credit Bryan Morton and Jon Garman for the team’s final place. They both rode great in the race, they didn’t make mistakes and they held our spot, which is exactly what we needed. So, many other teams got taken out of the race by their third and fourth rider.

The team is very excited for next year and is looking to take the checkered flag. This year the team just hoped to race well and hopefully finish in the top 15. Next year, the goal is a second Little 5 championship for Lambda. The team will be one of the favorites with all four riders returning. The team is training throughout the summer and fall with one thought in mind… WE WANT A RING!!!

The team was awarded the Dixie Highway Award for the biggest improvement from qualifications to the race, and Josh Beisel received a scholarship from the IUSF for leadership on the track.
